One week later...

I know, Friday was a little busy so I couldn't get to the computer long enough to write. I'm not sure about what I'm going to write about now... It hasn't been the most eventful week.

Let's see... This past week I've been out of sorts... Being a little home sick since being back from the wedding. By the way, I have no way right now to get the pics up on this blog, so you'll just have to bear with me. I hate to have to say it but I was a little bored with being indoors and had to get out for a few days last week. Oh, I wouldn't have allowed myself to go out just to go out, I had to have a reason... I needed some stuff for Jamey's birthday. I really enjoy being out on my own sometimes, I have that sense of independence but at the same time I know that I will never have to take on life by myself... That's a really good feeling! :~)

Anyway, I did have to get a few things for Friday. I looked at the cake mixes at the store and realized that I needed another box of the Sweet N' Low mix... Luckily, I had come across that very same cake mix in a drugstore a few days before, so I just stopped by there before I went home one day.

Friday was a bit hectic... I had to make powdered sugar substitute and lemonade concentrate substitute for the lemonade cake he wanted. It wasn't easy, but it turned out alright. The powdered sugar did better than I thought, it had a few clumps in it but thickened the glaze real well. Too bad I didn't have that recipe for the frosting for my reception cake! :~) The cake mix turned out really well too. Very moist and fluffier than any sugar-free cake I could ever make. After I made the cake I cleaned the house cause it needed it. That, however, didn't take that long. I was almost done when Jamey called to say he was on his way home. He wanted fried chicken for supper... Now, I'm from the north where you aren't required to fry chicken so I didn't know how to do it! I had watched his mother do it one time and did my best to imitate her, it worked quite well. It wasn't done when he came home, but it wasn't far from it.

After the food was eaten, it was cake time! :~) He knew I made a cake but didn't know what kind it was. I had also decorated it, not much just had happy birthday on it and a few candles. When I told what kind of cake it was his eyes lit up. Yep, that was the response I wanted. On a side note, southerners do things backwards... Jamey and his family sing the birthday song after the candles are blown out rather than before. This was just interesting to me... I guess I thought that everyone sang before the candles went out. There weren't that many candles so it didn't take long to get them out of the cake. Jamey took the first bite and claimed that it tasted as close as it possibly could without sugar in it! :~) Success!!!

Saturday we went to Memphis to spend some money Jamey got for his birthday. We spent a good bit of the morning out and then relaxed at home for the rest of the day.

Sunday we went back to Memphis for Friends and Family day at our old church. It was fun to see everyone again, not to mention they had barbecue after service... How can you say no to that? :~) Well, the dinner was good and the two hour nap that followed was even better! We got plenty of rest this weekend... That's what a weekend is supposed to be, right?

Today I haven't done anything other than laundry and finish a good book. I love to read when I can have a book that I truly can get lost in... This book is set in the time I love to dream about, the 1850s. I could honestly almost see it in my brain like I was watching a movie, not reading a book. Lucky for me there is another book in the series so I'm not done yet! :~)

Last post before November!! AHHHH!!!!

Yes, in just three short days it will no longer be October. And this Friday is Jamey's birthday, so I don't know if I will be able to post that day or not... I have to make his birthday dinner and his cake. ;~)

Saturday was fun. Well, the last part of the day was fun. The first part was just a lot of packing and moving stuff. Jamey and I got some boxes and I started packing while Jamey and his dad moved mattresses and bed frames into the truck bed. I ended up packing a good deal of stuff. It took about 3 hours to get it all loaded into the truck. We got that done and after we unloaded Jamey and I went to Wal-mart for some items for the trunk or treat later in the evening. I got a black turtleneck and a witch hat and Jamey got a black robe to finish his look. I went as Glenda the good witch's cousin (cause I just don't look that scary), Jamey went as a black ghost or ghoul or something like that... Let's put it this way the kids were more scared of the people in plaid than of him! :~) It's a lot of fun to watch Jamey with the kids... He's so good with them. There was a pot luck before it all started and then there was a hay ride before the candy giving. It was a lot of fun, I don't think I've ever done anything like that. Of course there were left overs of the candy... Which I enjoyed later! :~) Ahhh, there are some good things about having a husband that can't have sweets. Of course my hips will hate me later for it.

Sunday we stayed at the house and did nothing! Yep, the best thing to do on Sunday. Jamey wasn't feeling well cause of allergies and I wasn't feeling well for other reasons so we decided to stay close to home. We were going to go move the rest of the stuff from the apartment, but we hadn't gotten that much sleep so we didn't move anything... We barely moved ourselves! :~)

It's a beautiful day today, I went to Wal-mart to get the last of Jamey's presents. I can't wait till Friday so he can open them!

Ok, where did the time go?

Well, I'm just a little curious as to where all that time I had at the beginning of the year went. My sister just got married, my birthday is long gone and Jamey's is rapidly approaching. All of these events I thought would never get here and now they fly by... Not to mention the fact that everyone tells me it goes by faster as you age! :~O Great!

No, I really don't have all that much to say today... I'm just trying to avoid putting 9 buttonholes in my new shirt that I'm making. I don't mind the buttonholes it's just that there are 9 of them! So far it looks really good and if you could get away with using pins in clothes instead of buttons I know I'd do it! :~) But I got these cute pink buttons at Wal-mart and I might as well use them.

I started my Christmas shopping for my siblings today... No, I'm not telling what they're getting cause I know my little sister reads this. Since my family doesn't do Christmas on the actual day (we do it for New Years) I have a little time. Not to mention the after Christmas sales I can take advantage of! :~) However, I have to start thinking about what to get my new family... That will be just a little harder. As much as he won't like it I'll have to take Jamey shopping with me cause he knows them better than I do... Or at least he's lived with them longer! :~)

I don't know about where my family lives, but we had to turn our heat on for the last couple of days... You see the sun decided to take a vacation and go to Florida, leaving us without sun and the depressing cold. I know I lived in VT where it got cold like this every year... I'm starting to wonder how I made it living there. Maybe I'm just becoming more like my Mom and developing reptilian blood! :~)

I know this is all over the place... But this is the way my brain is, scary isn't it? I don't think I can get out of doing those buttonholes any longer. Tomorrow is a trunk or treat at a near by church. I had the idea that I'd dress up, but I'm not sure any more. If anything I might dress like a 12 year old then maybe I can get some candy!!! :~)

Yes, one day late... :~)

I know, I need to get back in the groove of this blog. Well, here are the happenings of the weekend...

Friday was spent mostly in the car. Yeah, pretty boring especially when you consider my DS ran out of battery about halfway through. Jamey asked me if I needed the car charger and being the ever optimistic one I said no. Jamey said he knew then that it wouldn't be long before the battery died! :~) When we finally got to Rising Sun we went to meet with my family at a shopping center where they were trying to get someone to help them get the sleeves of the tuxedos the right length. After we got that figured out, we went to the church for some dinner and a rehearsal. Seriously, they need more than one rehearsal! :~) By the way, the slip looked great under the dress! Then it was time to decorate the church. That took till about 1am! Jamey had gone out with Danny cause he would have been bored to tears with the decorating. My family and I had a blast with the decorating though. We got to do some singing and some catching up. We had a little problem getting into our room that night, but we got it fixed.

Saturday we got to the church at 11am and finished with the decor. This day is really just a blur of fingernails that needed painting and a giant white dress! :~) Jamey was put in charge of the cameras and the video. Lydia, Mommy, Danny's mom and I all helped Sarah get ready for the big event. They didn't get married until 3:30pm, but time flies when you don't want it to! Everything went well and we got through it. Sarah looked positively gorgeous. After the ceremony came the pictures! Yay! Yet another 45 minutes of something to keep us from eating! :~) When we did finally get back to the reception area Lydia and I were being the cake cutters. The last three weddings that I have been to, I have been the cake cutter in all of them. I can't complain though I volunteered... That and I wasn't all that hungry! Jamey and I couldn't stay long we had to be in Louisville KY for a tryout. Oops, got to miss the clean up... I feel so bad! ;~)

Sunday went rather well, and we got to leave after the early service cause they were having a song service at night. That was good. We got to stop at a place in Nashville that Jamey wanted to go to. We ate supper in Jackson (about an hour and a half away from home) at a cute little restaurant. I think the place is called the Casey Jones village, but I could be wrong. They had a lot of old things and an old train outside. We spent awhile there and then went home.

Yesterday I didn't get to the computer for the simple fact that I was drained from the weekend!

Hopefully, I'll be able to get back to the Monday and Friday post time! :~)

No, I didn't fall off the earth...

Hmmm... Ok, you are probably wondering why it's been forever and a day since you heard a peep from this blogger. Well, as of the 2nd of October we decided to move to a cheaper place... Which, by the way, I had no idea I had so much junk! So we've been busy with that. Also, the Internet connection here won't allow high speed so I'm stuck with good old dial up... Yeah. One more thing to add to my excuse is the fact I've been making my sister a wedding slip. She's getting married this Saturday (we'll be leaving Friday which is why I'm writing now) and I'm almost done. Just have the finishing touches to do.

Since I still have some stuff to do I'll just hit the high points... The 5th we went to Georgia and I got to meet Jamey's grandma for the first time! She is soooo sweet! We traveled all night to get there and I got to drive through Atlanta! I had this feeling that if I stopped they would kick me out of the south! :~) Jamey also showed me where he graduated, a town called Washington. And no, I didn't get a picture of grandma! I could have kicked myself... Classic.

The 6th and 7th we were in Mauldin, SC where Jamey had a tryout. It's so beautiful in that part of the country!

The 8th Jamey took me to Chattanooga to show me around. Wow! I loved the mountains. Jamey first took me to a place called McKay's where we traded stuff and got more stuff, that was neat! After that we ate lunch and went to the top of lookout mountain! Oh but the view from the top is magnificent! We could literally see for miles on top of there. When I have more time I'll try to upload some of those pics. After that we went down the mountain a little to Ruby falls... An underground waterfall! It was so neat to be doing this! I had a good time looking at all the stalagmites and stalactites after I got over the whole "there are miles and tons of rock on top of me" feeling. We left there and went to one of Jamey's favorite spots, a park in a city he used to live in. It was beautiful there... It had two waterfalls! :~) After that we went to Nashville and had dinner with John and then came home.

The 12th Jamey's mom had the day off so we went birthday shopping for me. I had quite a lot of money to spend and I'm surprised how fast it went! The first stop was at Hancock fabrics (you doubted?) where almost all of the money was blown! :~) Jamey got home and we went to dinner and did some more shopping. I had just enough to get a cute little denim skirt, I'd been wanting one for a while now.

The 13th found myself a slightly spoiled 23 year old. Jamey had made me a cake the night before and made me breakfast that day. We lounged around the house for a while before going into Memphis for all of my birthday fun. I found out that I had gotten some more money from my parents and grandparents! Yeah, more money than I've ever spent! WoooHoo!! We went to an art museum to start off with, which was extremely neat. I found out what I enjoy most are the portraits of people from the 17 and 18 hundreds. Also they had some furniture there from that time which just made my mind want to explode! When we got done with that we went to a record store to see if they had any piano music... I don't play well, but I like to play. They didn't have any, so we went to this piano place and I spent half of the other birthday money on music! That done it was time to do what Jamey kept secret... A river boat ride on the Mississippi at night! It was beautiful! Memphis was lit up and the wind was blowing and there wasn't a cloud in the sky! Of course since it is Memphis the meal was barbecue, which was delicious! I had a really good time on that cruise! Again, when I have time I'll try to post pics. When the day was almost done, Jamey took me to the place where Elvis played one of his first shows and sang me Happy Birthday! Did I marry a great guy or what! :~) Any other birthday from now on is going to be a let down!

This past Tuesday Jamey's mom had the day off and we went and packed up the kitchen stuff. After we ran out of boxes, we went shopping to spend the rest of the money... We went to the Burlington Coat Factory. I love that store!!! Their clearance is about as good as Wal-marts but you get a lot nicer clothes! So you can guess where I'm going when I get Christmas money! ;~)

Anyway, that's what's been up since last I sat and typed... It's been busy! Now to go and finish that slip... I'll try to get on Monday so I can post about the wedding!

It's October!! :~)

I'm doing something right now that no southerner in their right mind would do... I have the windows open and letting the breeze in. In and of itself this isn't crazy, it's just that it's still in the 80s! :~O Well, it helps a little... The sound of cars on the road outside is very calming for me. Also I looked at the weather both in VT and in OH... It's 66 degrees in both places right now. So, in my head it's open window weather even though it feels more like summer. Ahhh... The joys of living in the state of TN! :~)

Thursday I already mentioned that we were planning on going to see a football game... The game was in Jonesboro, AR so it was a good hour drive to get there. Oh, and apparently the people that are at ASU can't tell time. The ticket said that it started at 7pm, however we got there a little before 7 and they were already in the middle of the second quarter! That wasn't so bad, cause Memphis was kicking AR butt. However, they decided that winning wasn't everything and gave the game away. They went from 31 - 13 to 31 - 34! It didn't help that there was a little referee favoritism, and that Memphis can't defend themselves real great! By the way, the outfits for the band don't flatter anyone!!! :~p Sorry the pictures are a little fuzzy, they wouldn't stand still for us! :~)

Friday was pretty good... I got my shopping done and then got to nap a little before I had to go over to clean house. I got there about 1pm... I had to go back and finish after I went to pick Jamey up at 4pm. It's not that it was dirty, it's just that there were a lot of nick knacks to dust. Not to mention that there were three bedrooms and two bathrooms. I survived and when I got done went home and ate pizza for supper... I got it at Aldi, it's quite good. I wanted to get some khaki pants after that, kinda as a reward. I like Goodwill for this... Usually there are some fancy, expensive clothes there that I would never be able to buy new. I got a pair of really nice pants that are MetroStyle. Yes, they are now my new favorite pants! :~)

Saturday we didn't have to leave until 4pm, so we got to sleep in and enjoy a quiet morning at home. Jamey woke up before I did... He saw how peaceful I looked sleeping and he didn't want to disturb me, so he made breakfast and brought it up to me! Yep, breakfast in bed! :~) I didn't eat in bed for fear of getting crumbs in the sheets... I'm the only crumb that gets to sleep in the sheets! :~) We watched some TV before we had to leave. It only took about 2 hours to get there, which is like having a weekend off! It's so pretty there... They have rolling hills in that part of TN, so we both like the landscape. The people we stayed with were very nice. They had a king size bed in the guest room... Jamey and I could lay out on that thing and not even come close to each other! :~) It was a little weird cause I felt like I was sleeping by myself.

Sunday was good. Jamey did a really good job as always. The elders and deacons ate lunch with us and after lunch the ladies went into the house and we talked while the men were talking. They are a really good bunch. After the talk we got to nap, but it wasn't nearly long enough. Thankfully, it wasn't a long ride back home... We got home at around 9pm so we stayed up a little before going to bed. It was nice to be able to stay up a little after we got home... It meant that we weren't getting to bed after 2am! :~)

Today I have to get some things done so I'll have things to pack next weekend... We are planning on leaving Thursday after Jamey gets off work. That way we can spend a day and a half with his grandma. I'm really looking forward to meeting her. I've heard a lot about her, but never met her before so I'm really excited! Something I'm also looking forward to is going to the Need To Breathe concert here in Memphis tomorrow!! :~)

No, you're right, it's Thursday...

Just to let you know, I do know what day it is and I will explain myself... Tomorrow I will be cleaning an older lady's house. She can't get around very well and asked me to help her. She is the same person Jamey and I helped move on Labor day. I'm supposed to go at 1pm, but I also want to get my grocery shopping done tomorrow too, so I most likely won't have the free time to write.

Let's see... Monday night Jamey and I went out. Not for a long time, but we had coupons that needed to be used. We got one of those entertainment books with the coupons in it from someone at churc
h. We went to this CD store and made out like bandits. :~) It was fun. We came home and watched a movie we got at that CD store... Yeah, they have movies too.

Tuesday was awful in terms of attitude. I saw some pictures of my family from the wedding reception and started to feel lonely. I also felt like I was of little use cause I didn't want to do chores and I had a lot of them to do. Thank the Lord for my wonderful husband though, cause he came home and took me out to eat and calmed me down... :~) On a side note here, I can't wait to see my family in about a month for my sister's wedding!! :~)

Yesterday I got a lot done. I got everything done that I was complaining
about on Tuesday. I also had to hem a piece of cloth for a friend at church. When we were at church I was approached by one of the ladies and was asked if I knew how to hem pants... She said that she needed three pairs hemmed and wanted to know if I could do it. Finally it's getting around that I sew and can be called on to sew! :~) Not to mention that I will get paid for it!

Today Jamey and I are going to go to AR to see a football game. We got tickets from one of the preachers at church.
I can't wait... This will be my first football game! :~) Oh, I almost forgot...

Size 5 double pointed needles: $4

Size 7 double pointed needles: $4
7 more ozs of yarn: $2.50
Wearing a sweater that you knitted: Priceless! :~)

You can't really see it in the photo, but there's cabling on the sweater. It took me about 2 weeks to finish it after I got the needles. I can't wait for some colder weather so I can wear it out! :~)

Second day of Fall?

I've been really quite good about being a Vermonter in Tennessee... However, one thing I will never get over is the fact that it's 90 degrees on the second day of fall and the only reason the leaves are falling off the trees is that it's been dryer than my humor here. Alright, that's it for my peeve of the day. :~)

Friday I was feeling, well... Cramped being inside so Jamey took me out for some entertainment and dinner. It was really nice to go out and not just to Wal-mart.

Saturday we didn't leave until 12:30pm so we got to sleep in a little. It only took about 5 hours to get to Jerseyville IL. It's about an hour away from St. Louis. We went passed the arch, but the batteries in my camera were dead so I missed that opportunity. It was a beautiful day out, but it was hot. Jamey had the air on and to keep myself from freezing I wore my sweater that I finished earlier in the day. The one problem we have is the whole temperature thing... I like to have it so I'm cozy (which is about 80), but to have it that way Jamey roasts like a hot dog. So I figured I'd just wear a little more... Especially since he was driving. I think however the people we met thought I was a little crazy. :~) At least they didn't get a wrong first impression! :~) We got to stay in a hotel this time and it was nice. There was a football game on TV, so Jamey was watching... It was Georgia against Alabama, Jamey is a big Georgia fan. I would have taken a picture cause he was so cute, but like I said before the batteries were dead. :~(

Sunday was an equally nice day out and after church they had a pot luck. However, when service was over an adorable 5 year old came over and attached herself to me. She had been looking at me during church and she came up to me after church telling me that she was looking at me cause I was so pretty! :~) Awww... This
child must need corrective lenses! :~) I got to play with her and we sat with the children for the pot luck... They had us surrounded! :~) After that pleasant experience Jamey and I went back to our hotel and took a long nap. Driving certainly takes it out of you! We left after night service. The arch was sorta lit for night and I tried to get a picture... This is the best I could do. You can kinda see it in the middle. It looked a lot better in person. It kinda blended with the sky, both at night and in the daytime.

Today I'm recovering from the weekend. Two more weekends that are booked and then we get a break for my birthday. I can't wait to see where Jamey is taking me for my birthday... :~)

Things that just don't add up...

Alright, my big plans for today are get my blog written and knit till my fingers fall off. Yeah, big plans. :~)

Monday night I went to the store to see if I could get some more yarn for my sweater. I don't know about you, but when it says it needs 13 ozs of yarn I tend to believe that it needs 13 ozs of yarn... So when I ran out of 16 ozs of yarn, I started to think that 13 ozs was only if you wanted a sleeveless sweater! Well, I went out to see if I could find some yarn. Oh, on a side note I hate that Wal-mart has discontinued their fabric section I used to love to go there for that reason.
Also they seem to have lessened their crafts section altogether. Anyway, I went to Wal-mart cause that is where I got my yarn to start with. I guess it is partly my fault for not working on it for 2 years... I couldn't find the color I needed. Well thank goodness for Hobby Lobby. They didn't have the exact same color but it is close enough. Silly me I thought that I wouldn't need to get any more yarn for it when I bought the 16 ozs, so I tossed the wrapper. Note to self don't do that anymore! :~)

Tuesday I wasn't feeling very well, so I kinda took the day off. I felt a little better when the shoes I had bought on-line for my sister's wedding came. I will be one of the bridesmaids, so I needed to coordinate with my other sister who lives half an hour from a mall and an hour away from a good mall! Since my family doesn't have the time to mall surf, my sister looked on-line and found what she wanted. I usually hate to buy things over the Internet for the simple fact that I can't try it on... Call my crazy but I like to only buy things that fit and look nice on me. I got lucky though, these shoes look quite nice and fit well. Not to mention that they are very comfortable.

Wednesday I was feeling about the same as Tuesday. The good news came in the form of the dress I had purchased on-line for my sister's wedding. Yes, I live in Memphis and the store here didn't have the dress I was looking for. Another pet peeve of mine... Anyway, the dress fits and looks alright on me. If I'm going to look good in those wedding pictures though I'd better lay of the chocolate for a while if you know what I mean! ;~) The last thing I want is incriminating photos of me with signs of chocolate consumption around my middle. :~)

Yesterday I had a relatively good day. I got up and took Jamey to work... It's been a couple of weeks since I've done that due to the sleepy factor. However, I was feeling more awake yesterday morning than I have in a long time. I did get a lot of things done. I had to grocery shop, mail some letters, pick up prescriptions, and get a slip for the above mentioned dress. I'm slightly proud of myself... I got temporarily lost on my way home from the post office (Jamey usually takes me there) but I know my way around well enough to get myself home. Jamey had somewhere he had to go after work so I got to go with him. It was one of those work parties that have appetizers and are intended so you can meet some of the people you work for or with but have never met in person. The food was good and the people were nice. After that we came home and finished watching the first season of 24. Ok, I have one thing against this show... If you have kept my attention for 24 hours at least have a happy ending. Is that too much to ask? I don't really get the programs that want to be like real life... For goodness sake, that's why we watch TV to get away from real life. Am I wrong in wanting happy endings on programs? I might watch the second season, but it will be a few days before that happens.

Well, the first half of my big plan for today is done. The second half will come in a little while as I plan on returning to my knitting when I'm done with this. I also have to get ready to go to IL tomorrow and I have to do those mundane house chores that make life so darn interesting! :~)

One tiring weekend...

Two things strike me as I sit and write this... I am extremely tired from the weekend I just had and I am wearing a long-sleeved shirt when it's in the 80s here, although it's about 70 inside. Hmm... I have been really cold lately, also I have this urge to wear long-sleeved stuff just because it's the middle of September! Call me crazy but I don't think the high for this time of year should be around 90 degrees.

Friday evening was very sweet on Jamey's part. He usually makes dinner on Fridays, so he asked me what I wanted. In my usual indecisive manner, I said that I didn't know. I hated that I didn't have any idea what I wanted, however, it didn't stop Jamey. He called me on his way home and said to be ready to go to the park when he got home so we could have a picnic. Now, I have been pestering, uh... asking to go to the park and have a picnic since spring time. So I was absolutely ecstatic. It was a little warm yet for a picnic but we found a shaded spot next to a lake and sat and ate what Jamey had bought at the store. We stayed, sat on a bench overlooking the lake and talked for about half an hour after eating before we went home. At home we stayed up and watched my new favorite show... 24. For those of you that don't know about this, it follows a guy who works for something like the FBI. It's unique because the episodes happen in real time... So you have to watch 24 episodes to get through the whole day. Yeah, it's addictive! :~)

Saturday we didn't have to get up that early. It only took about 6 hours to get to TX, so we left about 11:30am. It's a little boring to drive for 200 miles and there is nothing but flat. It was a beautiful day to go driving though. We got there about 6pm and went out to eat with the people we were going to stay with. Being from the north I'm not quite familiar with the nice people of the south. The people we stayed with made us feel like old friends/family. That was nice. :~)

Sunday I have to say Jamey was incredible. There were a few obstacles with the job in TX, but he did a very good job. I was a little surprised Sunday because the temperature was about the same as Memphis. I had always thought that when I visited TX (if ever) it would be sweat city. Apparently this was a mild summer for them... Yeah, I got lucky! ;~) We stayed for evening service. Unfortunately, we thought that it would be about 5ish for service. Evening service was at 6pm. We didn't get out of there until about 7:30. We ended up getting home around 2:30am.

I feel bad for Jamey cause he had to get up this morning and go to work. I got to go back to sleep after I made him breakfast and packed him lunch. Usually Mondays are long nights anyway, but he'll be really beat this time.

Happy Birthday... No not to me!

Ok, I was a little tired Monday so I decided to just skip it. But now I'm back!

Today is my younger brother Ira's 21st birthday. This isn't the first time I haven't been there to rightfully claim my piece of cake, however this is the longest I've gone without seeing my family. I'll call him tonight, but it won't be the same. Anyway, Happy Birthday Ira!! :~)

Saturday and Sun
day Jamey and I were out of town, going up to Iowa. Knoxville to be exact. For those of you that don't know... Knoxville is the Sprint car capitol. Ok, that information is only really interesting to me but I thought I would put it in anyway! :~) It took about 10 hours to get to Knoxville which means that I had to pretend to be awake at an insane hour... 5am. Now I have to say I admire the people that this comes easy to... I am NOT one of those people! :~) Yes, we got up that early so we wouldn't get in to Knoxville too late. It's beautiful country up there... If you're not going through pouring rain. At least our car got washed! :~) We got there at 4pm. We didn't get to bed until about 11:30pm cause we kept talking!

Sunday they had a pot luck after service. They know how to cook! After the meal we left. The weather back was much better than the weather that we went through to get there. I was amazed at how pretty the landscape is there. It reminded me of Vermont only without the mountains in the background. We got back from Knoxville about 11pm.

Monday I was moody. I have to say though that Jamey is one of the most patient
men I've ever met! :~) The one redeeming thing Monday was we got a dryer! Someone was getting rid of an old dryer so they practically gave it to us.

Tuesday was like Monday only more moody. Marco wouldn't stop barking and the dryer wasn't cooperating. Anyway, I think it was just a little of me being home sick and tired from the trip. After Jamey got home we went out to the mall and Target. Yeah, that helped! :~)

Wednesday was sooooo much better! I opened the windows and got some fresh air in the house and it was just such a beautiful day out. If we hadn't had to go to church I would have liked to go to the park. Anyway, I had a really good day. I found a book that my Grandma had given me for Christmas a couple years ago and I started readin
g that. One of the things I miss... My girly books.

Thursday I was tired so I decided to not go to class. Bad idea. I should have gone just because that is the only day when I really get to get out. Not that Jamey doesn't take me everywhere I need to go, but I have that sense of independence. However, it wasn't the nicest day out. It started raining about the time I would have started shopping. When Jamey got home, after supper, we went out to Aldi to go grocery shopping. Also the knitter in me had
to go to Hobby Lobby to get those double ended needles! When I got home I started knitting and finished the neck of my sweater. I started that sweater about 2 years ago! :~)

So far today I'm just chillin' till I have to pack so we can leave tomorrow for TX. Also I want to tidy my house so I won't have to do it Monday. Hopefully I won't be too tired from traveling to write Monday. :~)

Another Friday! : - )

Another fairly uneventful week...

Since I blogged a day late I don't have to relate Monday and Tuesday. Hmm... Now for the rest of the week.

Wednesday Jamey took off so we could get the tires done and the oil changed. We started our quest at 11am. We first stopped at Wal-mart to get the tires and oil done at one place. Well, they didn't have the tire people there... Apparently they all decided not to show up for work that day! :~p So we ended up only getting the oil changed. Then we went to a car place, but they couldn't get to us for a couple hours! Nice. Well, we went to another Wal-mart to see if their tire people were there. They were! Also this particular Wal-mart still had the fabric section! Yeah, I was happy. I didn't get any fabric, but I looked! I also couldn't help looking at the clothes... I don't need any, it's just that I'm female and that's what I do! :~) I found one shirt that was really cute and then I realized that I had the pattern to make it on my own! Well, after that discovery, the car people said that our car needed tires that it really didn't. So we ended up going to this place that did car work for Jamey before and his dad still goes to him. Anyway, he fixed all the problems. Now we have a practically brand new car... Well, it feels like it when you drive!

Thursday I was so tired I didn't even get up to get Jamey breakfast! Yep, I didn't go to class either. For some reason I really needed my sleep! It's been a while that I haven't gotten up and made Jamey's breakfast. Oh well, he didn't mind. I ended up going to Aldi after Jamey got home. I went while he was talking on the phone. I hadn't made anything for supper so I picked up a pizza at Aldi. It was only $2 and it tasted pretty good! :~p

Well, I have to go and get ready for our trip this weekend. I still have to finish that dress, not to mention packing! UGGG... I hate packing... I always feel like I left something important at home when we leave! We'll be leaving early tomorrow morning. I'll take pictures! :~)

Oops... One day late!

Sorry about that, but Jamey was home yesterday and when he's home I like to spend time with him.

Saturday Jamey and his dad went to a football game. His parents get tickets from a co-worker of his mom's. So they went to do that, and his mom and I went to Linens n Things to get a new bed set for her. She had gotten a gift card for that store from Rachel for their anniversary. We found some good deals and then went to Hancock Fabrics. We stopped in at Old Navy just cause I had never been there. I had to go to Hobby Lobby to get some ribbon and needles for the dress I'm still making. We spent about an hour in Hobby Lobby looking at patterns and then went over to TCBY to get something to cool us down. We spent about 4 hours out shopping and when we got home Jamey and his dad still weren't back from the game. They finally got home at about 6pm and then had pizza with us and left.

Sunday was a little more relaxing. We went to church and went out to eat with Jason afterwards. After that we just stayed home and relaxed. :~)

Monday was Labor Day. That's exactly what Jamey and I did... We helped an older couple move into a new house. We spent half the day moving stuff in the house and getting stuff out of the old house. It was hot too! :~) After that we came home and watched a movie, and I took a nap! :~)

This morning was the visitation, so I took Jamey to work. We have to go get our car tires checked and the oil changed so we will be able to go all the way to Iowa Saturday morning! That should be fun, I've never been that far west! :~)

One Hectic Friday...

It's been kinda hectic so I am a little late in posting... Sorry! :~)

Monday was normal and uneventful.

Tuesday I sewed a shirt. Yep that was the highlight of the day! :~) Boring huh? You can't really see it on this one, but it has a overlay
on the front. It is just like the yellow one. It's really comfy, and I think it is my favorite shirt to date.

Wednesday we got our dog. We were told by the animal shelter it was a girl. Imagine our surprise when Jamey went to pick up the dog, he was informed that we had a boy dog! :~O Not that we were going to take it back or anything, it just surprised us. So we had to come up with a new name for it... Since the dogs name had been Maria we decided to name him Marco. He was slightly sedate, which we discovered later was caused by the medication he got for his surgery. I also made another shirt like the one on Tuesday, but made it a little fancier. This material doesn't stretch as well as the other material, but it works.

Thursday I decided to sew a little more. After I got home from shopping and class I was getting a little tired of taking Marco out to the bathroom and keeping him out of things, so I sewed to let out my frustration. I got this fabric at a yard sale for a dollar a yard. It still has to have ribbon on it and it needs to be hemmed, but this is basically how it will look. The top I'm wearing is my Nana's, which is actually my great-grandma.

Today Marco went to the Puppy Boutique and got a hair cut and a bath. Yay! He smells good and looks like a totally different dog. While he was gone, I took the opportunity to clean my house to get the dog smell out. So I was doing that all day! :~p Also Jamey's parents are coming tomorrow and I had to have a clean house for them. Jamey and his dad are going to go to a football game and his mom and I are going to the mall! :~) After Jamey got home John took Jamey and me out to eat! :~p

Oh, I have one more pic of a dress I made a while back but didn't have a picture of it then. It fits pretty well, and it comes to just below my knee. It's got a slight 40s feel to it.

Anyway, I have a husband and hyper, clean dog that kinda need my attention right now so I'd better go see to them! :~)

Zippers are evil! ; - )

Well, I don't have a dog yet... She will be ready on Wednesday! I'm looking forward to having her here. At first we thought we would get her today, but she isn't scheduled to go to the vet till Wednesday.

Ok, here's how my weekend went...

Saturday I had a range of emotions running through me, mostly anger at the dress I was working on. The dress is finished, I just haven't got a picture of it yet. Anyway, for some reason the zipper wasn't going to go in without a fight! I tried it on, pinned how much I should probably take in for the zipper, and sewed it on. One problem with it was it was too short. That was my fault! They didn't have color that I needed in the size zipper that I needed, so I thought I could get away with a shorter zipper. Whatever, I was insane! So not only did it not fit I couldn't get it up past my hips.

So Saturday I ended up having to go to Hobby Lobby twice! Not that that was a really bad thing, Hobby Lobby is now my favorite store in the galaxy. It is the only store that actually has double pointed needles in the sizes I need to finish my sweater! Not to mention a quite impressive sewing section. Think Wal-mart before they discontinued their sewing section. The prices at Hobby Lobby are even comparable to Wal-mart. It has other things in it too, it's just that I'll only be using the sewing section.

Well, finally after getting the right length zipper, I put it in. I will now take a moment to remember the three machine needles that gave their all for this project... Ok, that's enough! Yeah, I broke three needles... I don't even know how I did it! Breaking needles puts me in a monster mood anyway, but it still wouldn't fit!
I had pinned it where it would fit nice, but when I went and sewed it up I couldn't get it on! I ended up taking a two hour break to cool off. When I went back to it I made smaller seams and it finally fit. When I did get it to fit, it fit well. Now Jamey knows exactly why I didn't sew all that often.

Sunday we went over to Jamey's parents house cause his sister Tabitha was there. She lives in California with her husband. They will be here till tomorrow. I got to show off my dress, that was fun! :~) We stayed overnight and left today about 11:30am. One thing I need to do is learn how to pack. Last time we visited my family I forgot deodorant, this time I wasn't thinking and forgot to pack jammies! The conversation went a little like this: Jamey changed for Sunday night and said "So what do we wear to bed?", "Oh shoot!" We made it work, but next time I'll remember. Sunday afternoon, Jamey and Casey (Tabitha's husband) crashed in the living room and started napping. I tried to figure out my mother-in-laws new sewing machine for her. I got some of it done.

The really nice thing about Jamey's mom is that she sews and what material she's done with or hasn't used, she gives to me! Most of the stuff I'll end up making won't cost anything except what the pattern cost... Which was a dollar! I got some stretchy material this time and I have a pattern that I just got that has to have that kind of fabric. (I didn't realize it at the time.) So I'll have a couple more sewing projects to work on and keep me busy! :~)

I'd better go and get the stuff that I didn't do on Saturday so I can get to those patterns! :~)

Yay! Another weekend!

Yep, another week has bit the dust... Makes me wonder how fast the rest of the year will go. Hmmm...

This might be a short post because
most of this week was spent at home. Monday John spent the night at our apartment, and Jamey and I did the Internet radio show. Wow, that was a boring day! ;~)

Tuesday was a little more adventurous. We went to Wal-mart. Yep, the social mecca of Bartlett on any given evening. Hey, when you can't afford to go to the mall and buy expensive stuff, it's pretty good to have around. At any rate it gives you a destination when you feel stuck at home. I also felt better after we went because I got chocolate! :~p

Wednesday other than church, another relatively boring day. We went to the store to get some bread and I got more chocolate! :~p One thing we did was look at dogs online and found a couple that looked good. John stayed the night again.

Thursday I didn't feel like getting up, so Jamey took the car. Yes, Thursdays are usually the day I get out, but this time I just wanted to stay in bed. I didn't get to get too much more sleep cause Jamey called and asked if I still wanted that dog we saw Wednesday night. Her adoption fee was cheap, so we went ahead and got her. So now I've got a dog! I've never had a dog before, but it shouldn't be that difficult. She has to be a indoor dog, so that means baths and lots of them! :~) It will be nice to have something in the house so I don't look crazy talking to myself! :~) There was also football on this particular night. It's so much fun watching Jamey watch sports! This was the last night John stayed until next week.

Today, I'm going to try to get a dress I'm working on finished. Tomorrow Jamey and I are going to go see Maria our dog at the shelter. She won't be able to come to our apartment till, at the earliest, Monday. We'll also be spending Sunday night with Jamey's parents cause Jamey's sister will be there. She and her husband have been living in California, so we probably won't be able to see them a whole lot. Oh well, time to go tidy and sew! :~)

Company for the Weekend...

Well, I survived the weekend...

Friday night after Jamey got home from work we went out to eat at the Red Sun Buffet, my favorite Chinese restaurant, and then went out and took Seth on a tour of Memphis. We stopped at the place Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and then drove past Beale Street. Since it was about 90 degrees outside and Friday nights are always crowded on Beale, we decided to just do a drive by. We got home about 9pm and Jamey and Seth stayed up till about 1am talking.

Saturday we all got up a little before 7am cause we had to be at Sarah's apartment to help her move out at 8:30. When we got there most of the stuff was already moved downstairs. Only the real heavy stuff was left. It only took about an hour to get things moved, then it took another hour to situate everything. We left at about 11:30. Since we were in Henderson we had to have a drive by tour of Freed-Hardeman college. It's not incredibly big, but it looks nice. On our way back home we stopped in Jackson to look at some stores... Yes, I was with two guys and they stopped at a comic book store. We all checked out the GoodWill and a bargain basement place in Jackson. I had to stop at the Hancock Fabrics to take advantage of some sales. We didn't get home till about 3pm. It was a lot of fun though. We didn't have time to take a nap before we had to get showered and dressed for a singing thing his parents were doing that night with their church. His mom had some finger food made for the event and it started at 7pm. Everyone ate before they sang, so it took a while to get to the singing. I enjoyed it, it reminded me of my family getting together and singing. Jamey led quite a few of the songs. We ended up doing that for about half an hour before everyone had to be somewhere. We didn't have anything going on, but we couldn't stay too late cause it takes an hour to get back home. After we got home Jamey, Seth and I stayed up talking till about 1am again.

Sunday morning it was tough getting out of bed! I made waffles for breakfast. Seth decided to stay until after church, luckily the preacher that was preaching was one that keeps you awake. After the service the three of us and about 12 other people decided to go out to eat. We went to a place called O'Charley's. It's a nice place and the food was great. One of the things I noticed about it was it played oldies over the radio. The thing that wasn't that great was the service. Our waitress was mad about something and she took it out on us. We think it was the crowd that upset her cause she rolled her eyes when we mentioned how many would be coming. I understand about having a large crowd come into McD's and being mad, cause there it's the speed that counts, but at a sit down restaurant? Not only that but her tip was guaranteed! Yep, they had a service charge on the check. What a rip off! I can understand giving a tip, but being forced to pay one? Come on! Well, she didn't get any tips from our group other than the service charge. We got home and Seth left for Texas. He might come back in a few weeks, on his way back to Kentucky. I didn't get to do my shopping Thursday cause of the doctors appointment, so I had to do it Sunday afternoon. I went by myself, cause Jamey wanted a nap. I got home and we had to go to church. They were having a going away party for the family going to Hungary, so we stayed for that. When we got home from church there was a football game on TV, so Jamey watched that while I took a nap on the couch. I was so tired that that nap didn't interfere with me getting a good nights sleep later! After that was done, we went to bed. With Seth here we didn't get a lot of sleep, so we went to bed slightly early last night. :~)

I must have been exhausted from the weekend, cause I didn't even notice when Jamey turned off the alarm this morning. He got all ready for work without waking me. I usually am kind of a light sleeper too. Well, I have to tidy up my house after that weekend, so I better get going!

Three's Company...

Another Friday and another post... Is it just me or does the week evaporate away like all the water in Memphis' 100 degree weather? I don't know if I'm going to post a whole lot this time cause it was just a normal week. Well, normal for me anyway. :~)

Monday I was in a hormonal mood so nothing of value got done this day. All of you women know what I mean... For some reason putting food on the table for supper was about all I could seem to accomplish that day. Jamey even brought home chocolate and that didn't help my mood. It seems that Mondays are the worst cause I feel alone most of the day, cause I have spent the entire weekend with Jamey. I don't know if I've said that before, but it's always true on Mondays.

Tuesday was a little better. Jamey's cousin, Seth, was supposed to come, but was having car trouble so it was delayed until Wednesday. That was extremely good for me, cause I hadn't done a blessed thing to clean up the house Monday and it was too much to do in one day. Yes, I have this problem sometimes, it's called being lazy... I know it's gotta have a medical name, but I can't think of what it should be called right now. We had to go out to get some supplies for the house for when Seth came and as we were about to pay for our stuff I saw Jane Eyre on the shelf... Call me old-fashioned, but the old black and white version with Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine is the only one I really like. So I had to have it in the movie collection in with all the action movies.

Wednesday Seth was delayed another day. Which I didn't mind, cause I still had things that needed to be done. Like watch Jane Eyre that I got the previous night. What? ;~) We were also supposed to have John come over and spend the night, but his wife wasn't feeling well so he decided to go be with her instead. So one more night of just me and Jamey. :~)

Thursday Jamey and I had doctors appointments in the morning. It was nice cause Jamey took half a day off. Course that half a day was spent in the doctor's office... For some reason they needed my blood so they could give it tests to make sure it is ok for me to have. I have never had my blood drawn before and I thought it would hurt... The finger prick they give you hurts worse than poking a needle in your arm. Anyway, our appointments were for 9am and 9:45am and we didn't get out of there until 11:30am. Since Jamey didn't have to go into work until 1pm, we got to eat lunch together. :~) After Jamey got home we ordered pizza for when Seth got in and waited. For the pizza and Seth. For some reason the pizza boy forgot that Jamey had ordered a Pepsi. So he had to go back for it! Seth didn't arrive until about 7:30pm. It's fun for me to watch Jamey interact with people that he knows well. I mean, he interacts with me but it's not the same. This way I could just observe him. They talked about guy stuff and I decided to go do some of my stuff. They ended up talking until about 1am!

I felt sorry for Jamey this morning cause he didn't get that much sleep. My sister Sarah woke me up this morning talking about wedding things... I think what she is planning to do sounds really pretty. Right now Seth has gone to see if he can find that game store Jamey told him about last night, and I'm just chillin' waiting for Jamey to call me on his lunch break. Tomorrow morning we are going to go to Henderson and help Jamey's sister move into a better apartment. That should be fun!

Yard Sales and Ham Puffs!

Here's my new white shirt that I started on Friday. It wasn't that hard to make, just had a little trouble with the collar. I wasn't feeling all that well on Friday, or else I would have gotten it all done in one day. I was lucky to find white material that isn't completely see-through!

Anyway, Friday after dinner we went to see a movie at the $2 theater. It was Fantastic 4, Rise of the Silver Surfer. I had been wanting to see that movie since it came out. It didn't disappoint... Jamey said he liked it better than the original! I liked all the action and of course the humor in it too. I'm not sure, but they just might make a third one one of these days.

Unlike the Saturdays in the past, this Saturday Jamey and I got up at 7am to go check out yard sales. Ok, I'm not a morning person but this was fun! I can count on one hand the yard/garage sales I've been to in my life, not a whole lot of yard sales in my growing up years. I found some fabric, which I plan on making into a dress, it was only a dollar a yard so I couldn't resist! :~) If we didn't already have enough bedroom pieces, or if we had money to spend on more bedroom furniture... Not to mention we don't have the room for more, I would have been all over this one bedroom set. It had a dresser, vanity, bedside table and one other piece I can't remember what it was. It was in a creamy white with pink flower accents. Soooo pretty! If we would have had the room and the money to buy it I would have gotten it for Sarah. We went to quite a few yard sales, and got good stuff. I found a Sheerly Elegant pitcher and cups set for $10! My mom sells Tupperware so I knew this was a bargain! I was kinda hoping to find a keyboard that was affordable. Unfortunately, the only one we found was over-priced. Oh well, just have to play air-piano for a while longer! :~) We also stopped at a friends yard sale. They are moving out of the country, so they had to sell everything. We spent the most money there. Got some Cd's and I got a coat rack, an egg slicer and some nail polish. They had bean bag chairs, so Jamey got those.

After we got done with the yard sales we started to take a nap when Jamey's mom called and wanted to take me shopping. I'm female, so when I get offered the chance to go shopping I take it! :~) We went to this place that was having a 25% off sale... Not only a sale on normal priced stuff but the sale also included the 70% off stuff! I got three things originally priced about $16, but I only paid about $3 each for them! I love it when I can get good sales!

When we were done with that, Jamey and I went to a ballgame. He won some tickets at work. They had some fireworks after the game! It was Elvis week, so everything at the game was Elvis themed. Elvis mania is one thing you really can't avoid when you live in Memphis. I'm not a hard core fan of Elvis, but I like some of his songs. It was a very intense game toward the end cause the Redbirds pulled a win out of their tail feathers. They were down 1 to 5 when they scored 4 runs in the 7th inning! They ended up winning 7 to 5. That was the last game we'll be going to this year, but at least they won for us! The fireworks were nice, they didn't do a lot of big fireworks but it was a good show.

Sunday after church we took a nap for a while. We had to take some finger food to a get together after night church, so we went to the store to get the ingredients to make Ham Puffs. It's basically a ham and cheese quiche. My mom makes these mainly for New Year's Eve, it's an old Pampered Chef recipe and it's always a hit. I made about 48 of them, hoping I might have a few left to take home. I ended up taking about 6 home. Everyone loved them and told me so. Since we didn't get a lot of sleep over the weekend, we crashed when we got home.

Today I'm just chillin'. Jamey's cousin Seth will be coming tomorrow and staying for a few days, so I should try to get some cleaning done... Note the word "try" in the last sentence! :~)

Pork Chop Stuff! : - p

Monday, as always, was slightly boring during the day and at night Jamey had his radio thing so it was kinda busy then. John, Jamey's friend, stayed with us that night, too.

Tuesday was John and Jason's first day of school... It was visitation day, too. Ok, when you get lost once, you didn't get the directions right and made a wrong turn, no big... But twice? I have to say it's very disappointing. It wasn't all my fault! The road sign was turned so you couldn't see it from the side of the road I was on. Anyway, I was coming back from going to far when I saw the road I was supposed to turn on, so I made it in just enough time! :~) I made cookies, so I wanted to give them away... There is no way I would have eaten all those cookies by myself... Correction,
I could have eaten them all, but I would have felt terrible! :~p Tuesday night Jamey's parents and sister Sarah asked if we wanted to go see a movie with them... That was fun!

Wednesday there was church, that was about it. I made some hamburger and noodles for supper. Yummy! After church, we went over to see about a microwave! The family that is moving to Hungary is selling everything... So we're going to have a big microwave and a toaster! :~) I know I could have gone and gotten a toaster at Wal-mart, but I kept forgetting. This is better though, cause we are helping them. Next Sunday we will have a microwave!!!

Yesterday I had my class and went shopping. I couldn't find milk on sale at Kroger, so I had to pay out the ears for it! UGGG! The good news is gas is back down to 2.57. I wanted to make something that I haven't made in a while... Pork Chop Stuff! It's actually called Gourmet Pork Chops, but you know how it is when you're little and things get nicknames that never go away? Like Sugar Bears a.k.a Golden Crisp. I think I will always call that stuff Sugar Bears... Probably pass it on to my kids. But you get the idea. I went to pick up Jamey and he said that John and Jason were coming over for dinner! Uh Oh! I knew I'd have enough for John, but wasn't sure about Jason. Well, pork chop stuff goes a long way. It fed all of us and the guys were able to back for seconds! It's gone, but at least it served it's purpose... To stretch pork chops as far as they can go! Just to make sure I fed them well, I made brownies for dessert... Ok, those were for me too, cause guess what I'm having after lunch! :~p

Anyway, today Jamey cooks and is taking me out to a movie. He is so sweet to me! I'm going to start on that white shirt today and hopefully have it to wear Sunday! Also, I have dishes and laundry to do... If I don't do the dishes soon they might form a riot and refuse to be washed!

Monday, Monday...

Let's see... Hmm... This weekend was a little more profitable than last weekend! :~)

Saturday I finished my shirt that I started on Friday! :~) It turned out quite nice! I basically just followed the pattern, I didn't have to do anything to it to make it fit better. That was nice. The only bad thing about this is that I'm no longer as small as when I sewed for myself before. I'm working on a skirt now... It will take a little work, but hopefully it won't be too terribly difficult to make it fit. Jamey slept for most of Saturday which is good, he hadn't been getting enough sleep for the past week. By the end of the weekend he finally felt well rested. He got to sleep and I got to sew, it was a good Saturday. Jamey felt like a slug in the evening, so we went out for a little while.

Sunday I had my first experience with a crock pot!
We had a pot luck at church, so I decided to make something in one of my crock pots I got for a wedding gift. I didn't have a lot of time Saturday to cook something so I looked at my options... The crock pot was the only thing that wouldn't take a lot of time to prepare and it would be able to be cooked at church. I made a pork n bean recipe that was in the crock pot book, and it turned out really good! :~p I was impressed! After church we just kinda hung out at home. Watched the first half of Pearl Harbor and took a nap. After the nap we went and got dinner and went to the $2 theater.

Yeah, not a lot happened to blog about this weekend. I do want to thank my mother for being such a good example of what a wife should be. Most of the stuff I do and think about certain things came from my mom. Jamey has told me what a good wife I've been to him and I have to thank my mom for that.

Today I'm just lounging around. I'm just trying to stay awake and not give in to the temptation of a nap. I took naps late in the afternoon the past couple of days and haven't been able to get to sleep until about 2am for the last couple days! UGG!!! Have I expressed my dislike of Mondays? I have to say they are not the fun part of the week. Maybe I'm being bitter toward Mondays because of the lack of sleep... Nope, it's just Monday! :~)

The Sewing days of Summer...

Yes, I realize the proper saying is The Dog days of Summer... But for me there is no other time that I just want to stay indoors and create something that, for the summer at least, I will be able to wear and boast a little about. Also there is the feeling of something that fits you and only you to a T, something you just can't get from store bought clothes.

Since my In-laws were coming on Thursday I cleaned my house on Tuesday. Well, not all my house just about half. I didn't feel all that great Tuesday night, so I
didn't get all the cleaning done.

Wednesday I had a doctors appointment for the feeling of illness Tuesday. As much as I like to make fun of how long you have to wait to be seen at a doctors office, this day they actually didn't make us wait all that long. Anyway, after that was church and after church we went to Wal-mart. I needed a little more stuffing for the kitties I was sewing for my living room. Jamey's house is slowly getting cat integrated. Yep, it's an invasion!

Thursday I got the car and
went to Bible class and grocery shopped. When I got home from that I finished my cleaning. I know I've expressed my growing annoyance for the pill bugs that go to my kitchen floor to die, but goodness, where do they all come from? Anyway, after Jamey and I got home from his work his parents and his sister Sarah were waiting for us. His mom and I went to Hancock Fabrics, Sarah wasn't feeling well, to take advantage of the sale they were having. Boy, it's fun to walk through a fabric store and get something to make in the near future! :~) I got 5 patterns and some white fabric to make a shirt with. When we were done with shopping we came back to the house and had supper waiting. Ahh, the joys of having a husband that is a great cook! :~) We ate supper and then sat around talking and watching TV. When they were about to leave Jason and John came to spend time. It's a good thing that Jamey made a lot of food! :~)

Today I couldn't sleep in too much cause the fabric from the next room was crying to be made into something. This is the pattern I'm going to make first. It reminds me a lot about the tops from back in the 1840s and 1850s with the dropped sleeves. I have to admit loving that period of time, so much so that I made myself a ballgown from that era a few years back. I have to say I'm rather impressed by this pattern. It's the only pattern I've ever seen with cup size options! That would have come in handy when I was trying to fit my sister for a pattern... She is a petite person that isn't big all over, just on top. Well, I think I'll start on that shirt so I might be able to wear it this coming Sunday! :~)

Hawk Nelson concert!

Saturday was a relaxing day. I tried to do a little sewing... It didn't turn out that bad, but I do need to tweak it just a little. I absolutely love my sewing table! :~) It's big enough to have my ironing board on it too! I'm really going to like sewing on it in the future! Now on to Sunday...

I've been to about four concerts so far, but this one I've been waiting on for quite some time. My siblings went to a concert of his back in January or February in Fort Wayne. I couldn't attend because of conflicting schedules, like I had to work that night. Once I got home from work I talked to Jamey while waiting for my sibs to come home. They came back with tons of fascinating stories about how great the concert was and how nice they were. Well, I couldn't really say that until now!

After church we went out to eat, came home and changed for the ball game and concert after. We got there a little early but it was just enough time to get used to the burning chairs we had to sit in. We got shade for almost all the game, but unfortunately I somehow managed to get myself lobsterized. Oh how I love my fair skin! The ball game was actually good. I was impressed. The Redbirds won 6 to 3! I like to watch a game that has a lot of batting going on. Lots more entertaining than watching a pitcher's game. About halfway through the game they said you had to have wristbands to see the concert. Usually things that go on after the game are included with the game, not separate. So, Jamey went up to the ticket counter to see about getting wristbands. They wanted to charge us $20 more to see the concert, claiming it was on the website (which it wasn't). Not being one that takes things lying down, Jamey argued his way to free wristbands. They ended up downgrading our seats in order to get us wristbands, but we sat in the same ones. :~) The highlight of the game was seeing Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato from VeggieTales sing Take me out to the ball game! :~)

After the game we went to stand by the stage where the concert was going to be. We were about 5 feet away from the stage, which is really neat. Not so neat though when there are hundreds of screaming teen girls around you. It took a good 20 minutes for the concert to get started, which seemed like an eternity when you're standing in close quarters to other people and it's over 90 degrees outside. I got used to sweating... Ewww However, when they did start it was definitely worth the wait. The Send was first. I had never heard of this band before, but I'll definitely see about getting their album now. Jamey was impressed too. They only sang 4 songs, then it was Hawk Nelson's turn. He came out and the vocal cords of all the girls in the audience turned to shriek mode. I can understand screaming cause you think they're hot but asking them to marry you? That's just a little over the edge. They ended up singing a number of songs which was very nice. I like this band and wanted to hear more than 4 from them. I can't say I'm a real fan of the hair that Hawk has, but it worked for him. He is a very good performer and had the crowd mesmerized. He was very good at getting the crowd to participate with him and at one point had someone come on stage to help him with the kazoo part of one song.

After the concert was over they hung around to sign stuff and take pictures. We were at the end of the line, but it didn't take very long to get to the guys. They were very nice and seemed to really enjoy interacting with the fans. I got to have my picture taken with Hawk Nelson and his drummer. That had to be the best Sunday afternoon ever!

We were beat after the concert but went to a dinner we were invited to earlier in the day. It was one of the preachers that invited us. We don't normally hang out with this particular preacher, but we had a good time even though we were exhausted. We came home and basically went right to bed! :~) Too much excitement for one day.

This coming Thursday we are going to have Jamey's parents over for dinner, so I'd better get things ready to be cleaned! :~p
