One Year ago... :- )

One year ago yesterday Jamey and I went to the court house and got a marriage license. We waited until 5pm when all his family would be there and then were married by his father in front of their fireplace. We were both incredibly nervous but we got through it.

It was a simple beginning, but one that I wouldn't change for anything. It's uniquely ours. I've never regretted that decision and the life that we've made together is a very good one. I love him dearly and I try to be as good of a wife to him as he is a husband to me. However, I seem short of that marker sometimes because Jamey spoils me rotten! :~)

Anyway, yesterday was fun. I got up and made a breakfast that Jamey really likes... End my contribution to the days events! When Jamey got home from work he brought me roses, chocolate and gave me a necklace. (Told you I'm spoiled!) Then we had to go out to get a dryer cord, so we spent a little time out and about. When we got back home Jamey cooked dinner. It was a yummy chicken recipe. :~p He went all out and lit candles. It was very romantic. After that we watched a movie I had been wanting to see and played a board game that Jamey let me win. ;~)

This last year has been one that never really saw a dull moment, not with all my mood swings! :~) Now I can't wait to see what this next one will bring...

Never assume...

Ok, I've been told this more times than I care to count and I still do it anyway. I assume that when I get directions that we are both going down the same road to get to the destination. This assumption happened on Saturday. The person we were to meet told me the directions from one road and I assumed she meant another. In short, I got us lost. Not lost enough to miss the entire evening, just lost enough to get on Jamey's and my own nerves.

On Sunday the land lady came over and inspected our oven. I assumed that since it was not heating that it was broken. However, after testing the oven and finding nothing wrong there, they were going to come back and check on the dials that run the oven. As they were putting the oven back she turned the oven on and like magic it heated right up. Incredible! Yeah, until I realized that in order to turn the oven on you not only had to turn the temperature knob, but you also had to turn this other knob that says "bake", "off" and "broil". I had never seen this knob before. It came out of no where. For some strange reason I had totally overlooked this very important dial. Yes, I felt slightly silly. Oh well, now I can use my oven and start cooking again! :~}

Now as much as I probably shouldn't do this assuming thing anymore, I know I will... Hopefully one day I will learn my lesson and get full directions from friends and check every square inch of ovens. :~)

The Aliens finally let me go... No, wait, we moved! :-)

Yes, Jamey and I have moved. Jamey got a preaching position in Mauldin SC, and we just now got internet back. I'm trying to find places for all the stuff I didn't know I had and it's driving me crazy! Decorating was never a strong anything in my life, so I'm finding it fun and frustrating at the same time.

Other news... My older sister who got married in October is expecting in August! Yes, I get to be an Aunt and I'm just a little more than happy about it. It's probably a good thing that I don't live right where they are, as I'm afraid I'd spoil the little guy rotten! :~) As it is I'm going to make some baby stuff for him. Well, as soon as I can find my sewing room through the boxes. I exaggerate a little. We've both been pretty good about getting the boxes out of the house.

I've found out lately that mice do not like grapes. We have a mouse in the kitchen and I've been trying to kill it. So far I've put out peanut butter for it and it's stolen the peanut butter about three times now! I guess I'll have to get some cheese or something it likes and can't lightly lick off the trap. I wish it would be considerate and just die! :~) I thought it couldn't get any worse than those pill bugs in Memphis, but apparently it can!

I'd better get off this and start doing something that involves getting boxes put away.
