10 Hour Road Trip... Tylenol, Please?

This is the last post before the insanely long road trip up to see my family. Don't get me wrong... I'm more than excited to see my family! :~) In fact I can't wait!! Don't worry, I'll get alot of pictures and try to post all of them.

Since nothing out of the ordinary happened this week... I'll give you a couple pictures to keep your interest today.

Nothing happened this week so I was able to finish one of my needle point projects.
This has got to be one of my favorite pics from this week, Jamey brought a dozen roses home yesterday just because he loves me! :~)

<--This is a pic of my Thurs. morning class.

This is Wed. night service->

This is a picture of Miss Frances, one of the wonderful ladies that picks me up for Thurs. class.

This is Miss Mickie, the other wonderful lady that picks me up sometimes.->

Encounters of the eight legged kind... : - }

Not alot has happened this weekend, pretty cut and dry.

Friday night Jamey had an interview with a Top 24 from American Idol. I wasn't in on this interview cause I really had no idea who Sarah Mather is. For that matter, Jamey had never communicated with her either. So I just felt better having Jamey take this one. Sat. morning Jamey had yet another interview. This time it was one of the Hollywood contestants from this year. She didn't make it to the Top 24, but that let Jamey go in depth into the audition process. That was fun for him!

Saturday for some reason I was in a bad mood. I didn't wake up in one, I just got in one. Every now and then I feel couped up. It was a beautiful day and I didn't really want to stay around the house. Jamey is so good to me! He knew I was feeling couped up and even though he just wanted to stay home and chill, he took me out for lunch. Then he took me to the park. Jamey thought that it would be nice to go for a walk through the park. We chose a trail and started out... Next time we'll take another trail. We were just there for a short walk in the park, and the trail ended up being 3 miles! So, for an hour we walked that trail. Now if I ever feel couped up, I'll just remember that 3 mile walk! :~)

Sunday started out normal... not wanting to get up, eating breakfast, then a shower. I got my towel and was about to get in the shower when I noticed a spider in the tub. I didn't freak out at the spider until I took a closer look at it. Not only was there a spider in my tub, it was a Brown Recluse spider! That's right, one of the two spiders in North America that can kill you and it was trying desperately to climb the walls of my tub! I calmly went... no that's not right. I kinda freaked out! I ran into the bedroom and being slightly hysterical told Jamey there was a deadly spider in our tub. He looked at me and in all of Jamey's wisdom said "Well, kill it." I love Jamey dearly, but this is one area that I believe is a man's job. That and the fact that in reality I'm terrified of spiders! So, mustering all the courage I could, I grabbed Jamey's shoe and went in to face my Goliath. I couldn't help but look at that little spider and think "Wow, a spider that is no bigger than my big toe and with one bite would be able to kill someone." Then my reverie ended and with a giant SPLAT! the little spider was no more and a crisis was averted. After that it took a while to get the courage to take a shower. :~) What can I say, I'm a wimp!

One of the best parts about the Church we go to is that some Sundays a group gets together and goes out to eat. We haven't been out to eat with a Church group for a couple Sundays now, so that was a highlight this Sunday. We went to a build your own burrito place and had a blast! Another highlight on Sunday is when Jamey helps serve communion and then at night leads singing! Call me crazy, but I LOVE it when he does that! :~) After Sun. night worship, the Ezells invited Jamey and me to go with them and watch Shrek the Third. It was one of their daughters birthday. She wanted to see it and she wanted us to see it with them! The Ezells are moving to Hungary to be missionaries sometime this summer. So, what started out scary turned into a very relaxing Sunday!

This Friday after Jamey gets home from work we will be on our way to Ohio to see my family. We won't be back until late Monday, so there will be a hole in my posting. After I get back I plan on posting pictures! Whoo Hoo!!

Interviews,Vacuums and Cakes... Oh my!

Ok, so this post is the one thing I can think of to do before tackling the upstairs bathroom. I think my Mom would find it interesting that I actually keep my house cleaner than I kept my room! :~) Anyway, here goes..

My mind is giving me a blank on exactly when I did this, but luckily the date it happened doesn't matter. Well, those of you that know Jamey know that he has a blog that covers American Idol and a weekly Internet radio show that showcases Idol songs. One day (I believe it was last week) he informs me that he will be interviewing Heather Cox, one of the top 24, from American Idol season 5! He asks me if I want to be in on it, of course I said "Yes!" She is a real sweetheart! The next few days will have Jamey doing two more interviews! He really likes to do this and I like that he does it! :~)

Tuesday I was trying to be a good little housekeeper, and I was cleaning the two bedrooms. Not much exciting about that, cause the spiders had all decided to vacate the area. I was doing a smash up job of it when out of the blue... no, wait, I knew the vacuum wasn't putting out or sucking up for that matter! So I wasn't surprised when it just decided to push all the dirt around, however, this particular day was one of those hormone days and everything was blown way out of proportion! I feel sorry for Jamey. When he came home that day I was still mad at that vacuum, and unfortunately I took it out on him! :~( He seems to have something close to the patience of Job when it comes to me. He patiently listened to my problem (to him it wasn't that big a deal, but I was hormonal so I couldn't understand why he wasn't as upset as I was), then chose a plan of action. He ended up having to take the underbelly of the beast off and do the equivalent of the Heimlich maneuver on the hose! I ended up feeling very sorry for the vacuum, cause it was compacted to the point it could no longer fit anything in! After the emergency unclogging of the vacuum it ran like new, and purred like a kitten! :~)

Now for the rest of the story... I had this unexplainable urge to make a cake. So Wed. I decided to try it. Let me say this, Splenda is both my superhero and my nemesis. It lets me make sweet things for both of us and at the same time it completely fails to do some baking (like cookies). My cake turned out alright. The flavor was good, but the height of the cake left something to be desired. It was like me: short and sweet! :~) Since I didn't have chocolate to make chocolate frosting, I decided to go with peanut butter frosting. It turned out yummy, like peanut butter fudge! Mistake number one... trying to make powdered sugar from Splenda. You need twice as much sugar as powdered to make it work, so I ended up using 8 cups of sugar! Mistake number two... thinking it wasn't thin enough. I put just a little more milk in the frosting than it called for. I tried to frost the cake with it and that had disastrous results! Think the three fairy aunts in Sleeping Beauty trying to make a cake and that's basically what I had. Fortunately for me it sets up rather well in the fridge. Both the cake and the frosting were good on their own, but I didn't care to much for them together. Jamey loved it though! I don't know where he came from, but I'm glad I got him before anyone else did! :~)

One side thought, just one week till Jamey and I make the insanely long trip up to see my family! :~) I can't wait!!

First Concert!

What a fun filled weekend! It started Friday night with Jamey taking me out to eat. We ended up going to the pizza place where the Church youth group (about 10 kids) was enjoying pizza before a fun filled evening of laser tag! It was so encouraging to see a youth group that wasn't Baptist having a good time. After the pop and pizza we went to the $2 theater and saw a movie that both of us had been wanting to see. I love that theater! It's cheap enough for us to go to every once in a while.

Jamey made me breakfast like he usually does on Sat. morning, then he went through his cds and I tidied up the house. We went grocery shopping later in the
afternoon and got my pantry all full! :~) We went to Aldi and spent as much there as we did on gas the previous night! The only difference is that we won't have to spend that much on groceries for a while, can't guarantee that for the gas! After shopping we came home, changed and left for the concert. Got there a little early, but were able to check out the local color on Beale St. and saw Elvis! :~) When it was time to go to the concert there was a disappointing number of people there (about 20). You'd think that with Day of Fire there would have been more people than that. There were 4 bands up before DoF,and only a couple were any good. None of them I had heard of before! During a break Jamey bought me a Day of Fire T-shirt! When DoF came on stage Jamey and I moved up to stand next to the stage. Got to show the lead singer my shirt (which I had put on 'cause I was cold), and when he was pouring water for the band to drink during the concert, he poured one for me too! :~O The good thing about the small crowd was that it was a little more personal. During one of the songs the singer let Jamey sing the chorus with him! I think Jamey was in heaven! Even though it was a small crowd, the band was persuaded to sing one more song after they were done with the scheduled music. They were really great guys. After a lot of good and deafening music, the drummer threw one of the drum sticks at me. Wow! Jamey informed me that he's been to a lot of concerts and has never gotten the drum stick! Unfortunately, they were shutting the place down before we were able to get any autographs or pictures with the band. My next concert will have to be REALLY good to top this one! :~)

Sunday we went to Jamey's parents Church. I made green bean casserole for Sunday dinner, and Rachel brought lasagna. Even though we told her not to, Jamey's Mom made deviled eggs. We had a tough time keeping his Mom out of the kitchen, but we did it! While we were waiting on the lasagna to cook, his Mom found his Dad's wedding ring. Jamey put it on and it fit perfectly! It looks so good on his finger, and it's gold so it matches mine! :~) After the meal was nap time. Since Jamey and I had a late night Sat., Jamey was dead tired! While he napped his Mom got out some beads and I made a choker and anklet out of some of them. We stayed for evening service and then came home. I'm really blessed not only to have a very sweet and kind husband, but also to have wonderful in-laws! :~)

I'll try to post every Monday and Friday. Tonight we'll probably be going to church for dinner. It's called Mondays for the Master, and this one is the last one till fall.

Well, here goes...

Most of this will be just everyday stuff. Ok, it's an online diary. But hey, it'll probably help my typing skills alot! Yesterday I actually got the energy to go through and put up the stuff left by my husband's roommate. I put up my crosstitch pictures and some of my accumulated junk on a writing desk in there. I think it looks really nice, I'll post pictures when I learn how.

Tomorrow Jamey and I are going to go to a Day of Fire concert here in Memphis! I'm really excited, cause it's my first concert! :~) Don't worry, I'll tell you all about it.

Sunday will be a little bitter sweet. As you know it's Mother's Day, and this is the first Mother's Day that I have been away from my Mother. I'll be spending it with my husband's family who are the sweetest people, but it won't make up for not being with my own family. Speaking about my family, only two weeks and counting 'till I get to see them again! :~)

Yesterday I also got another glimpse of my new found pet. Ok, so it doesn't know that it's my pet yet. We have a beautiful long-haired grey cat living in our shed outside! I was so excited to see it again, 'cause I thought that I had scared it off last time with all my tidying up. Jamey said I could feed it a little, since he knew I would anyway! I sure hope I can get this cat friendly.

Since today is Friday I don't have to cook. It's Jamey's designated day to cook. It was his idea completely! I really appreciate it though! It's good this time since the germs of the South have decided to attack this poor Yankee and make her pay for the Southern loss in the Civil War!

Not exactly sure how often I will be posting, but I'll try to do it at least often enough for you not to get bored.
