What a fun filled weekend! It started Friday night with Jamey taking me out to eat. We ended up going to the pizza place where the Church youth group (about 10 kids) was enjoying pizza before a fun filled evening of laser tag! It was so encouraging to see a youth group that wasn't Baptist having a good time. After the pop and pizza we went to the $2 theater and saw a movie that both of us had been wanting to see. I love that theater! It's cheap enough for us to go to every once in a while.
Jamey made me breakfast like he usually does on Sat. morning, then he went through his cds and I tidied up the house. We went grocery shopping later in the afternoon and got my pantry all full! :~) We went to Aldi and spent as much there as we did on gas the previous night! The only difference is that we won't have to spend that much on groceries for a while, can't guarantee that for the gas! After shopping we came home, changed and left for the concert. Got there a little early, but were able to check out the local color on Beale St. and saw Elvis! :~) When it was time to go to the concert there was a disappointing number of people there (about 20). You'd think that with Day of Fire there would have been more people than that. There were 4 bands up before DoF,and only a couple were any good. None of them I had heard of before! During a break Jamey bought me a Day of Fire T-shirt! When DoF came on stage Jamey and I moved up to stand next to the stage. Got to show the lead singer my shirt (which I had put on 'cause I was cold), and when he was pouring water for the band to drink during the concert, he poured one for me too! :~O The good thing about the small crowd was that it was a little more personal. During one of the songs the singer let Jamey sing the chorus with him! I think Jamey was in heaven! Even though it was a small crowd, the band was persuaded to sing one more song after they were done with the scheduled music. They were really great guys. After a lot of good and deafening music, the drummer threw one of the drum sticks at me. Wow! Jamey informed me that he's been to a lot of concerts and has never gotten the drum stick! Unfortunately, they were shutting the place down before we were able to get any autographs or pictures with the band. My next concert will have to be REALLY good to top this one! :~)
Sunday we went to Jamey's parents Church. I made green bean casserole for Sunday dinner, and Rachel brought lasagna. Even though we told her not to, Jamey's Mom made deviled eggs. We had a tough time keeping his Mom out of the kitchen, but we did it! While we were waiting on the lasagna to cook, his Mom found his Dad's wedding ring. Jamey put it on and it fit perfectly! It looks so good on his finger, and it's gold so it matches mine! :~) After the meal was nap time. Since Jamey and I had a late night Sat., Jamey was dead tired! While he napped his Mom got out some beads and I made a choker and anklet out of some of them. We stayed for evening service and then came home. I'm really blessed not only to have a very sweet and kind husband, but also to have wonderful in-laws! :~)
I'll try to post every Monday and Friday. Tonight we'll probably be going to church for dinner. It's called Mondays for the Master, and this one is the last one till fall.
