Hawk Nelson concert!

Saturday was a relaxing day. I tried to do a little sewing... It didn't turn out that bad, but I do need to tweak it just a little. I absolutely love my sewing table! :~) It's big enough to have my ironing board on it too! I'm really going to like sewing on it in the future! Now on to Sunday...

I've been to about four concerts so far, but this one I've been waiting on for quite some time. My siblings went to a concert of his back in January or February in Fort Wayne. I couldn't attend because of conflicting schedules, like I had to work that night. Once I got home from work I talked to Jamey while waiting for my sibs to come home. They came back with tons of fascinating stories about how great the concert was and how nice they were. Well, I couldn't really say that until now!

After church we went out to eat, came home and changed for the ball game and concert after. We got there a little early but it was just enough time to get used to the burning chairs we had to sit in. We got shade for almost all the game, but unfortunately I somehow managed to get myself lobsterized. Oh how I love my fair skin! The ball game was actually good. I was impressed. The Redbirds won 6 to 3! I like to watch a game that has a lot of batting going on. Lots more entertaining than watching a pitcher's game. About halfway through the game they said you had to have wristbands to see the concert. Usually things that go on after the game are included with the game, not separate. So, Jamey went up to the ticket counter to see about getting wristbands. They wanted to charge us $20 more to see the concert, claiming it was on the website (which it wasn't). Not being one that takes things lying down, Jamey argued his way to free wristbands. They ended up downgrading our seats in order to get us wristbands, but we sat in the same ones. :~) The highlight of the game was seeing Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato from VeggieTales sing Take me out to the ball game! :~)

After the game we went to stand by the stage where the concert was going to be. We were about 5 feet away from the stage, which is really neat. Not so neat though when there are hundreds of screaming teen girls around you. It took a good 20 minutes for the concert to get started, which seemed like an eternity when you're standing in close quarters to other people and it's over 90 degrees outside. I got used to sweating... Ewww However, when they did start it was definitely worth the wait. The Send was first. I had never heard of this band before, but I'll definitely see about getting their album now. Jamey was impressed too. They only sang 4 songs, then it was Hawk Nelson's turn. He came out and the vocal cords of all the girls in the audience turned to shriek mode. I can understand screaming cause you think they're hot but asking them to marry you? That's just a little over the edge. They ended up singing a number of songs which was very nice. I like this band and wanted to hear more than 4 from them. I can't say I'm a real fan of the hair that Hawk has, but it worked for him. He is a very good performer and had the crowd mesmerized. He was very good at getting the crowd to participate with him and at one point had someone come on stage to help him with the kazoo part of one song.

After the concert was over they hung around to sign stuff and take pictures. We were at the end of the line, but it didn't take very long to get to the guys. They were very nice and seemed to really enjoy interacting with the fans. I got to have my picture taken with Hawk Nelson and his drummer. That had to be the best Sunday afternoon ever!

We were beat after the concert but went to a dinner we were invited to earlier in the day. It was one of the preachers that invited us. We don't normally hang out with this particular preacher, but we had a good time even though we were exhausted. We came home and basically went right to bed! :~) Too much excitement for one day.

This coming Thursday we are going to have Jamey's parents over for dinner, so I'd better get things ready to be cleaned! :~p

Hey sis, "Hawk Nelson" is the name of the band. Jason Dunn, the lead singer, is not the band, and Aaron Tosti, is not his drummer, also Daniel Biro, the one in the black shirt, is not the guitarist he's the bass player, Jonathan Steingard in the striped shirt is the guitarist. Anyway, "the Sends" CD doesn't even come out till tomorow. But I'm glad you had fun. Later! Lydia :^)

Aaron's going by Skwid these days anyway :) Either way, Lydia, we were closer to the stage than you! Nyah nyah nyah :P Hehehehehe...

It's a good thing that (so far) Percy isn't the one doing an actual official serious-type music blog. :)
