One week later...

I know, Friday was a little busy so I couldn't get to the computer long enough to write. I'm not sure about what I'm going to write about now... It hasn't been the most eventful week.

Let's see... This past week I've been out of sorts... Being a little home sick since being back from the wedding. By the way, I have no way right now to get the pics up on this blog, so you'll just have to bear with me. I hate to have to say it but I was a little bored with being indoors and had to get out for a few days last week. Oh, I wouldn't have allowed myself to go out just to go out, I had to have a reason... I needed some stuff for Jamey's birthday. I really enjoy being out on my own sometimes, I have that sense of independence but at the same time I know that I will never have to take on life by myself... That's a really good feeling! :~)

Anyway, I did have to get a few things for Friday. I looked at the cake mixes at the store and realized that I needed another box of the Sweet N' Low mix... Luckily, I had come across that very same cake mix in a drugstore a few days before, so I just stopped by there before I went home one day.

Friday was a bit hectic... I had to make powdered sugar substitute and lemonade concentrate substitute for the lemonade cake he wanted. It wasn't easy, but it turned out alright. The powdered sugar did better than I thought, it had a few clumps in it but thickened the glaze real well. Too bad I didn't have that recipe for the frosting for my reception cake! :~) The cake mix turned out really well too. Very moist and fluffier than any sugar-free cake I could ever make. After I made the cake I cleaned the house cause it needed it. That, however, didn't take that long. I was almost done when Jamey called to say he was on his way home. He wanted fried chicken for supper... Now, I'm from the north where you aren't required to fry chicken so I didn't know how to do it! I had watched his mother do it one time and did my best to imitate her, it worked quite well. It wasn't done when he came home, but it wasn't far from it.

After the food was eaten, it was cake time! :~) He knew I made a cake but didn't know what kind it was. I had also decorated it, not much just had happy birthday on it and a few candles. When I told what kind of cake it was his eyes lit up. Yep, that was the response I wanted. On a side note, southerners do things backwards... Jamey and his family sing the birthday song after the candles are blown out rather than before. This was just interesting to me... I guess I thought that everyone sang before the candles went out. There weren't that many candles so it didn't take long to get them out of the cake. Jamey took the first bite and claimed that it tasted as close as it possibly could without sugar in it! :~) Success!!!

Saturday we went to Memphis to spend some money Jamey got for his birthday. We spent a good bit of the morning out and then relaxed at home for the rest of the day.

Sunday we went back to Memphis for Friends and Family day at our old church. It was fun to see everyone again, not to mention they had barbecue after service... How can you say no to that? :~) Well, the dinner was good and the two hour nap that followed was even better! We got plenty of rest this weekend... That's what a weekend is supposed to be, right?

Today I haven't done anything other than laundry and finish a good book. I love to read when I can have a book that I truly can get lost in... This book is set in the time I love to dream about, the 1850s. I could honestly almost see it in my brain like I was watching a movie, not reading a book. Lucky for me there is another book in the series so I'm not done yet! :~)

Last post before November!! AHHHH!!!!

Yes, in just three short days it will no longer be October. And this Friday is Jamey's birthday, so I don't know if I will be able to post that day or not... I have to make his birthday dinner and his cake. ;~)

Saturday was fun. Well, the last part of the day was fun. The first part was just a lot of packing and moving stuff. Jamey and I got some boxes and I started packing while Jamey and his dad moved mattresses and bed frames into the truck bed. I ended up packing a good deal of stuff. It took about 3 hours to get it all loaded into the truck. We got that done and after we unloaded Jamey and I went to Wal-mart for some items for the trunk or treat later in the evening. I got a black turtleneck and a witch hat and Jamey got a black robe to finish his look. I went as Glenda the good witch's cousin (cause I just don't look that scary), Jamey went as a black ghost or ghoul or something like that... Let's put it this way the kids were more scared of the people in plaid than of him! :~) It's a lot of fun to watch Jamey with the kids... He's so good with them. There was a pot luck before it all started and then there was a hay ride before the candy giving. It was a lot of fun, I don't think I've ever done anything like that. Of course there were left overs of the candy... Which I enjoyed later! :~) Ahhh, there are some good things about having a husband that can't have sweets. Of course my hips will hate me later for it.

Sunday we stayed at the house and did nothing! Yep, the best thing to do on Sunday. Jamey wasn't feeling well cause of allergies and I wasn't feeling well for other reasons so we decided to stay close to home. We were going to go move the rest of the stuff from the apartment, but we hadn't gotten that much sleep so we didn't move anything... We barely moved ourselves! :~)

It's a beautiful day today, I went to Wal-mart to get the last of Jamey's presents. I can't wait till Friday so he can open them!

Ok, where did the time go?

Well, I'm just a little curious as to where all that time I had at the beginning of the year went. My sister just got married, my birthday is long gone and Jamey's is rapidly approaching. All of these events I thought would never get here and now they fly by... Not to mention the fact that everyone tells me it goes by faster as you age! :~O Great!

No, I really don't have all that much to say today... I'm just trying to avoid putting 9 buttonholes in my new shirt that I'm making. I don't mind the buttonholes it's just that there are 9 of them! So far it looks really good and if you could get away with using pins in clothes instead of buttons I know I'd do it! :~) But I got these cute pink buttons at Wal-mart and I might as well use them.

I started my Christmas shopping for my siblings today... No, I'm not telling what they're getting cause I know my little sister reads this. Since my family doesn't do Christmas on the actual day (we do it for New Years) I have a little time. Not to mention the after Christmas sales I can take advantage of! :~) However, I have to start thinking about what to get my new family... That will be just a little harder. As much as he won't like it I'll have to take Jamey shopping with me cause he knows them better than I do... Or at least he's lived with them longer! :~)

I don't know about where my family lives, but we had to turn our heat on for the last couple of days... You see the sun decided to take a vacation and go to Florida, leaving us without sun and the depressing cold. I know I lived in VT where it got cold like this every year... I'm starting to wonder how I made it living there. Maybe I'm just becoming more like my Mom and developing reptilian blood! :~)

I know this is all over the place... But this is the way my brain is, scary isn't it? I don't think I can get out of doing those buttonholes any longer. Tomorrow is a trunk or treat at a near by church. I had the idea that I'd dress up, but I'm not sure any more. If anything I might dress like a 12 year old then maybe I can get some candy!!! :~)

Yes, one day late... :~)

I know, I need to get back in the groove of this blog. Well, here are the happenings of the weekend...

Friday was spent mostly in the car. Yeah, pretty boring especially when you consider my DS ran out of battery about halfway through. Jamey asked me if I needed the car charger and being the ever optimistic one I said no. Jamey said he knew then that it wouldn't be long before the battery died! :~) When we finally got to Rising Sun we went to meet with my family at a shopping center where they were trying to get someone to help them get the sleeves of the tuxedos the right length. After we got that figured out, we went to the church for some dinner and a rehearsal. Seriously, they need more than one rehearsal! :~) By the way, the slip looked great under the dress! Then it was time to decorate the church. That took till about 1am! Jamey had gone out with Danny cause he would have been bored to tears with the decorating. My family and I had a blast with the decorating though. We got to do some singing and some catching up. We had a little problem getting into our room that night, but we got it fixed.

Saturday we got to the church at 11am and finished with the decor. This day is really just a blur of fingernails that needed painting and a giant white dress! :~) Jamey was put in charge of the cameras and the video. Lydia, Mommy, Danny's mom and I all helped Sarah get ready for the big event. They didn't get married until 3:30pm, but time flies when you don't want it to! Everything went well and we got through it. Sarah looked positively gorgeous. After the ceremony came the pictures! Yay! Yet another 45 minutes of something to keep us from eating! :~) When we did finally get back to the reception area Lydia and I were being the cake cutters. The last three weddings that I have been to, I have been the cake cutter in all of them. I can't complain though I volunteered... That and I wasn't all that hungry! Jamey and I couldn't stay long we had to be in Louisville KY for a tryout. Oops, got to miss the clean up... I feel so bad! ;~)

Sunday went rather well, and we got to leave after the early service cause they were having a song service at night. That was good. We got to stop at a place in Nashville that Jamey wanted to go to. We ate supper in Jackson (about an hour and a half away from home) at a cute little restaurant. I think the place is called the Casey Jones village, but I could be wrong. They had a lot of old things and an old train outside. We spent awhile there and then went home.

Yesterday I didn't get to the computer for the simple fact that I was drained from the weekend!

Hopefully, I'll be able to get back to the Monday and Friday post time! :~)

No, I didn't fall off the earth...

Hmmm... Ok, you are probably wondering why it's been forever and a day since you heard a peep from this blogger. Well, as of the 2nd of October we decided to move to a cheaper place... Which, by the way, I had no idea I had so much junk! So we've been busy with that. Also, the Internet connection here won't allow high speed so I'm stuck with good old dial up... Yeah. One more thing to add to my excuse is the fact I've been making my sister a wedding slip. She's getting married this Saturday (we'll be leaving Friday which is why I'm writing now) and I'm almost done. Just have the finishing touches to do.

Since I still have some stuff to do I'll just hit the high points... The 5th we went to Georgia and I got to meet Jamey's grandma for the first time! She is soooo sweet! We traveled all night to get there and I got to drive through Atlanta! I had this feeling that if I stopped they would kick me out of the south! :~) Jamey also showed me where he graduated, a town called Washington. And no, I didn't get a picture of grandma! I could have kicked myself... Classic.

The 6th and 7th we were in Mauldin, SC where Jamey had a tryout. It's so beautiful in that part of the country!

The 8th Jamey took me to Chattanooga to show me around. Wow! I loved the mountains. Jamey first took me to a place called McKay's where we traded stuff and got more stuff, that was neat! After that we ate lunch and went to the top of lookout mountain! Oh but the view from the top is magnificent! We could literally see for miles on top of there. When I have more time I'll try to upload some of those pics. After that we went down the mountain a little to Ruby falls... An underground waterfall! It was so neat to be doing this! I had a good time looking at all the stalagmites and stalactites after I got over the whole "there are miles and tons of rock on top of me" feeling. We left there and went to one of Jamey's favorite spots, a park in a city he used to live in. It was beautiful there... It had two waterfalls! :~) After that we went to Nashville and had dinner with John and then came home.

The 12th Jamey's mom had the day off so we went birthday shopping for me. I had quite a lot of money to spend and I'm surprised how fast it went! The first stop was at Hancock fabrics (you doubted?) where almost all of the money was blown! :~) Jamey got home and we went to dinner and did some more shopping. I had just enough to get a cute little denim skirt, I'd been wanting one for a while now.

The 13th found myself a slightly spoiled 23 year old. Jamey had made me a cake the night before and made me breakfast that day. We lounged around the house for a while before going into Memphis for all of my birthday fun. I found out that I had gotten some more money from my parents and grandparents! Yeah, more money than I've ever spent! WoooHoo!! We went to an art museum to start off with, which was extremely neat. I found out what I enjoy most are the portraits of people from the 17 and 18 hundreds. Also they had some furniture there from that time which just made my mind want to explode! When we got done with that we went to a record store to see if they had any piano music... I don't play well, but I like to play. They didn't have any, so we went to this piano place and I spent half of the other birthday money on music! That done it was time to do what Jamey kept secret... A river boat ride on the Mississippi at night! It was beautiful! Memphis was lit up and the wind was blowing and there wasn't a cloud in the sky! Of course since it is Memphis the meal was barbecue, which was delicious! I had a really good time on that cruise! Again, when I have time I'll try to post pics. When the day was almost done, Jamey took me to the place where Elvis played one of his first shows and sang me Happy Birthday! Did I marry a great guy or what! :~) Any other birthday from now on is going to be a let down!

This past Tuesday Jamey's mom had the day off and we went and packed up the kitchen stuff. After we ran out of boxes, we went shopping to spend the rest of the money... We went to the Burlington Coat Factory. I love that store!!! Their clearance is about as good as Wal-marts but you get a lot nicer clothes! So you can guess where I'm going when I get Christmas money! ;~)

Anyway, that's what's been up since last I sat and typed... It's been busy! Now to go and finish that slip... I'll try to get on Monday so I can post about the wedding!

It's October!! :~)

I'm doing something right now that no southerner in their right mind would do... I have the windows open and letting the breeze in. In and of itself this isn't crazy, it's just that it's still in the 80s! :~O Well, it helps a little... The sound of cars on the road outside is very calming for me. Also I looked at the weather both in VT and in OH... It's 66 degrees in both places right now. So, in my head it's open window weather even though it feels more like summer. Ahhh... The joys of living in the state of TN! :~)

Thursday I already mentioned that we were planning on going to see a football game... The game was in Jonesboro, AR so it was a good hour drive to get there. Oh, and apparently the people that are at ASU can't tell time. The ticket said that it started at 7pm, however we got there a little before 7 and they were already in the middle of the second quarter! That wasn't so bad, cause Memphis was kicking AR butt. However, they decided that winning wasn't everything and gave the game away. They went from 31 - 13 to 31 - 34! It didn't help that there was a little referee favoritism, and that Memphis can't defend themselves real great! By the way, the outfits for the band don't flatter anyone!!! :~p Sorry the pictures are a little fuzzy, they wouldn't stand still for us! :~)

Friday was pretty good... I got my shopping done and then got to nap a little before I had to go over to clean house. I got there about 1pm... I had to go back and finish after I went to pick Jamey up at 4pm. It's not that it was dirty, it's just that there were a lot of nick knacks to dust. Not to mention that there were three bedrooms and two bathrooms. I survived and when I got done went home and ate pizza for supper... I got it at Aldi, it's quite good. I wanted to get some khaki pants after that, kinda as a reward. I like Goodwill for this... Usually there are some fancy, expensive clothes there that I would never be able to buy new. I got a pair of really nice pants that are MetroStyle. Yes, they are now my new favorite pants! :~)

Saturday we didn't have to leave until 4pm, so we got to sleep in and enjoy a quiet morning at home. Jamey woke up before I did... He saw how peaceful I looked sleeping and he didn't want to disturb me, so he made breakfast and brought it up to me! Yep, breakfast in bed! :~) I didn't eat in bed for fear of getting crumbs in the sheets... I'm the only crumb that gets to sleep in the sheets! :~) We watched some TV before we had to leave. It only took about 2 hours to get there, which is like having a weekend off! It's so pretty there... They have rolling hills in that part of TN, so we both like the landscape. The people we stayed with were very nice. They had a king size bed in the guest room... Jamey and I could lay out on that thing and not even come close to each other! :~) It was a little weird cause I felt like I was sleeping by myself.

Sunday was good. Jamey did a really good job as always. The elders and deacons ate lunch with us and after lunch the ladies went into the house and we talked while the men were talking. They are a really good bunch. After the talk we got to nap, but it wasn't nearly long enough. Thankfully, it wasn't a long ride back home... We got home at around 9pm so we stayed up a little before going to bed. It was nice to be able to stay up a little after we got home... It meant that we weren't getting to bed after 2am! :~)

Today I have to get some things done so I'll have things to pack next weekend... We are planning on leaving Thursday after Jamey gets off work. That way we can spend a day and a half with his grandma. I'm really looking forward to meeting her. I've heard a lot about her, but never met her before so I'm really excited! Something I'm also looking forward to is going to the Need To Breathe concert here in Memphis tomorrow!! :~)

No, you're right, it's Thursday...

Just to let you know, I do know what day it is and I will explain myself... Tomorrow I will be cleaning an older lady's house. She can't get around very well and asked me to help her. She is the same person Jamey and I helped move on Labor day. I'm supposed to go at 1pm, but I also want to get my grocery shopping done tomorrow too, so I most likely won't have the free time to write.

Let's see... Monday night Jamey and I went out. Not for a long time, but we had coupons that needed to be used. We got one of those entertainment books with the coupons in it from someone at churc
h. We went to this CD store and made out like bandits. :~) It was fun. We came home and watched a movie we got at that CD store... Yeah, they have movies too.

Tuesday was awful in terms of attitude. I saw some pictures of my family from the wedding reception and started to feel lonely. I also felt like I was of little use cause I didn't want to do chores and I had a lot of them to do. Thank the Lord for my wonderful husband though, cause he came home and took me out to eat and calmed me down... :~) On a side note here, I can't wait to see my family in about a month for my sister's wedding!! :~)

Yesterday I got a lot done. I got everything done that I was complaining
about on Tuesday. I also had to hem a piece of cloth for a friend at church. When we were at church I was approached by one of the ladies and was asked if I knew how to hem pants... She said that she needed three pairs hemmed and wanted to know if I could do it. Finally it's getting around that I sew and can be called on to sew! :~) Not to mention that I will get paid for it!

Today Jamey and I are going to go to AR to see a football game. We got tickets from one of the preachers at church.
I can't wait... This will be my first football game! :~) Oh, I almost forgot...

Size 5 double pointed needles: $4

Size 7 double pointed needles: $4
7 more ozs of yarn: $2.50
Wearing a sweater that you knitted: Priceless! :~)

You can't really see it in the photo, but there's cabling on the sweater. It took me about 2 weeks to finish it after I got the needles. I can't wait for some colder weather so I can wear it out! :~)
